Patterson & Woodward, Inc v. Beverwyk – 320 Mich App 670 - DN 333301
In this matter there were two different petitioners, Mr. Matterson (who was VP and the General Manager of Woodward) and the company Woodward, Inc. The trial court initially issued an ex-parte ppo against the respondent; however, the trial court set the ppo aside finding that the PPO statute did not permit a PPO to be issued to protect a non-person. The COA agreed that PPO relief is not available to corporations, but ruled that the trial court erred in not maintaining the PPO protecting Patterson when it found it could not be used to protect Woodward, Inc.
